We recently had a new member to our K1a4a1a2 Project.
This new member does not match ANY of those previously in the project. Not in the Genetic Distance category or in the HVR1 or HVR 2 category.
So, what do I do? I had to think about it.
What I decided to do was create a new category. I decided to call the two groups TRIBES.
And to differentiate one tribe from the other, rather than call them Tribe 1 or Tribe 2 or Tribe A and Tribe B, I thought I would call them by letters of the Greek alphabet.
So, I’ll call the first group Tribe Alpha and the second, Tribe Beta. When or IF we get a third tribe, I’ll call it Tribe Gamma, then Tribe Delta and so forth. If we end up with more than 24 Greek letters we may to come up with another naming pattern. It won’t really matter what the name of the tribe is, I will just name any new tribes numerically by the order of the letters in the Greek alphabet.
