I suspect he may have married a Guy, a sister or other relative of Lemuel Guy as there is an undiscovered connection between the families. She would have died between 1837 and 1844 when James married his second wife, Elizabeth McNorton. James and Elizabeth McNorton married 29 October 1844 in Muscogee County, Georgia. She was born about 1824 and died in 1850 in Muscogee County, Georgia.
