James M. Cobb was born about 1797 in Baldwin County, Georgia and died after the 1860 Census possibly in Chattahoochee County, Georgia. He probably married about 1830 in a county whose courthouse records are missing, possibly Baldwin or Houston County, Georgia. I suspect he may have married a Guy, a sister or other relative of Lemuel Guy as there is an undiscovered connection between the families. She would have died between 1837 and 1844 when James married his second wife, Elizabeth McNorton. James and Elizabeth McNorton married 29 October 1844 in Muscogee County, Georgia. She was born about 1824 and died in 1850 in Muscogee County, Georgia.
